Indian billionaire's son offers to save Escobar's hippos
Anant Ambani, son of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has offered to relocate and care for a herd of hippos in Colombia that originated from Pablo Escobar's illegal exotic animal collection. These hippos, descendants of a pair imported by the drug lord decades ago, have multiplied and become an ecological concern for Colombia, which had planned to cull some of them. Ambani's Vantara zoo in Gujarat, India, has expressed willingness to provide lifelong care for the animals. The offer, detailed in a letter to Colombia's environment minister, highlights Vantara's commitment to animal welfare. Colombia has not yet responded to the proposal.
