Australian police arrest man, recover stolen Egyptian artefacts after museum heist
Australian police arrested a 52-year-old man and recovered stolen Egyptian artifacts after a nighttime break-in at the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology in Caboolture, Queensland. The man allegedly broke a window and stole priceless treasures, including a mummy mask, a collar, a 3,300-year-old necklace, and a wooden cat sculpture. Police located most of the stolen items with minor damage in a car near a ferry terminal the day after the theft. The suspect was arrested later that evening on Russell Island and found to be in possession of the missing wooden cat sculpture. The man, identified as Miguel Simon Mungarrieta Monsalve, has been charged with breaking and entering, wilful damage, and other related offenses.
