Indonesian rescuers retrieve body from Mount Dukono as search continues
Rescuers in Indonesia have recovered the body of a local hiker, identified as Enjel, who was caught in an eruption at Mount Dukono on Halmahera island. The search continues for two Singaporean climbers who were part of a group of 20 that ascended the volcano despite safety restrictions. The eruption on Friday sent an ash column miles into the air. Seventeen hikers, including seven Singaporeans, have been safely evacuated, with ten sustaining minor burns. The ongoing search operation, involving over 100 personnel and drones, is hampered by hazardous terrain and continued volcanic activity, with rescuers prioritizing safety due to the volcano's elevated alert status.
