Trump's 'Golden Dome' to cost $1.2 tn, watchdog estimates
A new Congressional Budget Office report estimates that President Trump's proposed "Golden Dome" missile defense system will cost approximately $1.2 trillion over two decades. This figure significantly exceeds the initial $175 billion projection. The acquisition costs alone are estimated to surpass $1 trillion, covering interceptor layers and a space-based warning and tracking system. The "Golden Dome" is intended to defend the entire U.S. against aerial threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles. Senator Jeff Merkley, who requested the estimate, stated the program would be funded by taxpayers.
