Two bodies of missing Italians recovered from inside Maldives cave
The bodies of two missing Italian divers have been recovered from a cave in the Maldives. The divers were part of a team from the University of Genoa, though the university stated the dive was conducted in a personal capacity and outside the scope of their authorized scientific research. The recovery operation, described as complex due to the cave's depth, limited space, and poor visibility, involved specialist divers and the Maldivian coastguard. The team had a permit to dive to 50 meters, but the cave itself was not mentioned in their proposal. The accident occurred on Thursday amidst rough weather conditions. The recovery of the bodies is hoped to provide clues regarding the cause of the incident.
