‘He sacrificed his life’: security guard killed in San Diego mosque attack hailed as hero
A security guard, Amin Abdullah, is being hailed as a hero after he was killed during a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday. Two teenagers opened fire, killing Abdullah and two other men, Mansour Kaziha and Nadir Awad. Police stated Abdullah's actions undoubtedly saved lives by delaying and distracting the attackers, preventing them from reaching a classroom with 140 children. Kaziha and Awad were killed in the parking lot after drawing the attackers' attention. The two teenage suspects were found dead nearby from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Authorities are investigating the attack as a hate crime, with the FBI suggesting the attackers may have been radicalized online. A fundraiser for the victims' families has raised nearly $3 million.
