Everest record holder warns of Nepal danger as two Indian mountaineers die
At least five climbers have died on Mount Everest this season, including two Indian nationals, Sandeep Are and Arun Kumar Tiwari, who succumbed to illness during their descent after reaching the summit. Three Nepali climbers also died, along with a US and a Czech climber on Mount Makalu. This surge in fatalities coincides with a record number of ascents from Nepal's southern route, prompting concerns about overcrowding. Kami Rita Sherpa, who achieved a record 32nd Everest summit, expressed worries about the experience level of some climbers and suggested the government should regulate the number of expeditions. Officials reported a preliminary total of 275 climbers reaching the summit from the Nepali side on a single day.
