Présidentielle 2027 : le communiste Fabien Roussel balaye le vœu insoumis d’une candidature commune

In an interview on LCI, Fabien Roussel, the national secretary of the PCF (French Communist Party), rejected the call for a unified left-wing presidential candidacy for the 2027 election made by Manuel Bompard of LFI (La France Insoumise). Bompard had proposed a common platform and agreements for senatorial and legislative elections. Roussel criticized LFI's past actions, citing instances where LFI candidates ran against incumbent communist mayors in municipal elections, creating a "rupture". He also stated that Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of LFI, is "certainly the worst candidate for the second round" of a presidential election. Roussel suggested focusing on addressing the current oil crisis as a point of collaboration for the left, including LFI. The PCF will decide on its presidential candidate during its congress in July.
