Palestinians hand over suspect in 1982 attack on Jewish restaurant in Paris

French authorities have detained Hicham Harb, a 72-year-old man suspected of directing and participating in the 1982 attack on the Jo Goldenberg restaurant in Paris, which resulted in six deaths and over 20 injuries. Harb, whose real name is Mahmoud Khader Abed Adra, was extradited from the Palestinian National Authority on Thursday following a request from France's National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office. He is accused of being one of the gunmen who opened fire on diners after a grenade was thrown into the restaurant. The Rue des Rosiers attack, which occurred in the historically Jewish Marais quarter, has never resulted in a conviction. The attack was blamed on a Palestinian splinter group founded by Abu Nidal. France's highest judicial court ordered a trial for six suspects last year, some of whom are living abroad.
