Beijing slaps travel ban on New Zealand MPs for ‘crossing red line’ with Taiwan visit
Beijing has imposed travel bans on four New Zealand lawmakers for visiting Taiwan. The Chinese embassy in Wellington stated the MPs crossed a "red line" with their visit, which occurred in early May. The ban prohibits travel to mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The affected lawmakers include National MP Maureen Pugh, NZ First's David Wilson, ACT's Laura McClure, and Labour MP Duncan Webb. Both the New Zealand and Australian governments have condemned the travel bans and announced they will lodge a formal protest.
