Italy bans Kanye West concert over security concerns
Reggio Emilia, Italy has banned a concert by US rapper Kanye West, originally scheduled for July 18th as part of the Pulse of Gaia Festival. The decision was made by provincial prefect Salvatore Angieri on public safety grounds, following requests from various bodies, including the local Jewish community, who expressed reservations about his appearance. Authorities cited the close timing of the events, the large expected crowd within a 24-hour period, and the risk of counterdemonstrations as contributing factors. A concert by Travis Scott on July 17th was also canceled. The prefecture stated the ban was for the protection of public order and safety.
