Australian shock jock wins A$12m payout after radio station tore up contract

Australian radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands has received a A$12 million payout from ARN after his contract was terminated. The termination followed an on-air dispute with his co-host, who subsequently stated she could not continue working with Sandilands. ARN took the show off air after the incident. As part of the settlement, Sandilands is restricted from working for ARN competitors until March. ARN will also receive a 19.9% share of his next independent media venture for three years. Sandilands' co-host, who had a separate ten-year A$100 million contract, is also suing ARN.

ARN Media has settled its legal dispute with former radio host Kyle Sandilands for $12.09 million in cash and $1.5 million worth of advertising services over three years for his new media venture. This agreement resolves claims and counterclaims in federal court, avoiding a potentially costly trial. Sandilands, who had sought $85 million after his abrupt sacking in February, will also share 19.9% of his new show's revenue with ARN for three years. He is restricted from competing radio stations for nine months. His co-host, Jackie "O" Henderson, has a separate, ongoing legal action against ARN.
