Washington state crews find body of another victim in paper mill explosion
Crews have recovered the body of another victim from a chemical tank rupture at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging Company paper mill in Longview, Washington, bringing the confirmed death toll to nine. The incident, which occurred Tuesday morning when a tank containing over 500,000 gallons of white liquor collapsed, has left two workers still unaccounted for among the eleven presumed killed. The caustic chemicals released caused severe burns and lung damage. Recovery efforts have been slow due to ongoing chemical hazards and industrial dangers. The tragedy, one of the deadliest US workplace accidents in recent decades, is under investigation. Eight others were injured, including a firefighter.
