Germany Christmas market attacker, a Saudi psychiatrist, sentenced to life
A Saudi psychiatrist, Taleb Jawad al-Abdulmohsen, has been sentenced to life in prison by a German court for a Christmas market attack in Magdeburg in December 2024. The 51-year-old drove a rented SUV through a crowded market, killing six people and injuring over 300. Al-Abdulmohsen, described as an anti-Islam activist with right-wing conspiracy beliefs, admitted to driving the vehicle but denied deliberately running people over. He was convicted of six counts of murder and 338 counts of attempted murder. The court also determined there was an "especially severe culpability," making parole less likely for his life sentence.
