A key hearing for the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk will be public, judge rules
A Utah judge has ruled that a key preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson, accused of killing Charlie Kirk, will be public. Robinson's defense team had requested to close portions of the hearing, scheduled for July 6-10, where prosecutors must present evidence to justify a trial. Judge Tony Graf denied this request, stating the public and media have a presumptive right to access court proceedings and that the defense failed to show a public hearing would prevent a fair trial. Prosecutors plan to present forensic evidence, surveillance video, and alleged confessions. The judge also granted a separate hearing for the defense to argue that prosecutors made improper media comments.
