Australia World Cup star Volpato faces speeding, cocaine charges
Cristian Volpato, an Australian World Cup player who previously represented Italy at youth level, faces charges of speeding and cocaine possession. New South Wales police stopped the 22-year-old forward on Sydney's Anzac Bridge early Friday morning, alleging he was driving 50 km/h over the speed limit. He subsequently failed a roadside drug test, which returned a positive result for cocaine. Volpato made three appearances for Australia at the recent World Cup. He had switched his international allegiance from Italy to Australia before the tournament.
