UN eyeing potential Israeli war crimes in Lebanon
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has stated that Israel may be committing war crimes in Lebanon. During a visit to the country, Turk reported that his office has documented violations of international law by the Israeli military, including persistent shelling and demolitions in southern Lebanon. He noted the widespread damage, suffering, trauma, and despair experienced by displaced populations, many of whom are facing repeated displacement and destroyed homes. Turk asserted that despite a ceasefire agreement, Israeli military actions continue to cause casualties. He also expressed concern over the safety of UN workers in conflict zones like Lebanon, Gaza, and Yemen.
