Pakistan recovers more cargo plane debris from Arabian Sea as search for missing crew enters 3rd day

Pakistan Navy search teams have recovered additional debris from a cargo plane that crashed into the Arabian Sea earlier this week. The search for the aircraft's five missing crew members is now in its third day. The K2 Airways cargo plane disappeared from radar late Tuesday while en route from Sharjah, UAE, to Karachi, Pakistan, after reporting a navigation system malfunction. Wreckage was first found Wednesday approximately 100 kilometers off the coast of Ormara, but the main fuselage and crew remain missing. Search operations are ongoing in deep waters, complicated by rough seas and strong winds. Pakistan's Prime Minister has directed authorities to use all available resources, and K2 Airways is cooperating with the investigation into the cause of the crash.

Pakistani rescuers have located submerged wreckage of a K2 Airways cargo Boeing 737 that disappeared while approaching Karachi. The aircraft, a 27-year-old freighter, went missing on Wednesday in the Arabian Sea, 53 nautical miles south of Ormara port, after reporting a navigational system problem and rapidly descending. Urgent efforts are underway to find the five crew members on board: pilot Muhammad Rizwan Idris, co-pilot Faisal Jatoi, flight engineers Muhammad Hamid and Muhammad Arif Siddiqui, and aircraft loader Muhammad Taufiq Khan. Data indicated drastic changes in altitude before the final dive. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the deployment of all available resources for the search.

Wreckage of a K2 Airways cargo plane that disappeared while approaching Karachi, Pakistan, has been found off the country's coast. The U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed that an overturned ship found near Saipan is the vessel that went missing with six people on board after a typhoon hit. The ship, Mariana, experienced engine failure on April 15 and lost contact with the Coast Guard on Thursday. A search operation was launched, but heavy winds forced the HC-130 Hercules plane to return to Guam. The overturned vessel was spotted Saturday, 95 nautical miles northeast of its last known position. Debris from the ship includes a partially submerged life raft that was partly inflated. The Coast Guard and partnering agencies are continuing their search for the six missing people in the vicinity of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
