The awarded amount is lower than a previous high court settlement of 1.38 trillion won ($940 million), and Chey was also ordered to pay 2 billion won ($1.3 million) in alimony. Chey, who revealed an extramarital affair and child in 2017, married Roh in 1988. The case, dubbed the "divorce of the century," may be appealed to the Supreme Court.
