She shared in a statement that after experiencing declining mobility following hip and knee replacement surgeries, an evaluation at the Mayo Clinic led to her Parkinson's diagnosis. Simon described the unpredictable nature of the disease, noting some days are more challenging than others. Concurrently, she was treated for basal cell carcinoma on her face, which required surgery that affected her appearance. Despite these health challenges, Simon has been working on new music, with her first album of original songs in 16 years, "Comes in Waves," set for release on August 14th.
