Authorities initially prevented the family from identifying and retrieving Aminian's body, and later forced them to bury her along a roadside between Kermanshah and Kamyaran. The family was also prohibited from holding mourning ceremonies for Aminian. The protests, driven by political repression and economic hardship, have resulted in thousands of detentions, according to human rights groups.
