Africa backs Infantino as CAF unanimously votes in FIFA president’s favour
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee has unanimously reaffirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who is seeking re-election in March. This decision comes as UEFA has stated its commitment to boycotting future World Cups while Infantino remains in office. CAF, representing 54 FIFA member associations, has been a significant voting bloc for Infantino since 2016. CAF President Patrice Motsepe welcomed FIFA's pledge to review processes following controversy over the abandoned proposal to sell a slice of the World Cup's commercial future, while also emphasizing the importance of good governance and transparency in global football.
