Officials release names of three firefighters killed in Colorado wildfire
Three firefighters, Emily Barker, Nick Hutcherson, and Sydney Watson, were killed on Saturday while battling the Knowles fire in western Colorado. The US Department of Interior released their names on Monday. The specialized helicopter-deployed crew attempted to use shelters but were overcome by the blaze. Two other firefighters from the same crew were injured. The Knowles fire has merged with other fires to form the Snyder Mesa fire, which has burned over 28,000 acres. Governors from Colorado and Utah have declared states of emergency due to dangerous wildfire conditions. The Department of Interior has mobilized an investigation team to review the incident.
