French ambassador to CAR investigated over claims he hosted dozens of women
France has initiated disciplinary proceedings against its ambassador to the Central African Republic (CAR), Bruno Foucher, following allegations of misconduct. Reports claim Foucher hosted approximately 30 women at his official residence in Bangui between January 2024 and March 2026, with some staying overnight, which raised security concerns. The French foreign ministry confirmed an administrative investigation was conducted in April 2026, leading to the disciplinary proceedings. Foucher has reportedly acknowledged sexual relations with two women. This investigation occurs as France seeks to improve relations with CAR amidst Russia's growing influence in the former French colony.
