Minnesota official sues Texas governor to force ICE agent’s extradition
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has filed a lawsuit against Texas Governor Greg Abbott, seeking to compel the extradition of an ICE agent. The agent, Christian Castro, is accused of lying about a nonfatal shooting that occurred in Minneapolis on January 14. Minnesota officials allege Castro fired into the front door of a home, wounding Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis. Initially, the Trump administration claimed agents acted in self-defense, but video evidence contradicted this, leading federal prosecutors to drop charges against Sosa-Celis and another individual. Governor Abbott has reportedly refused to transfer Castro for trial for nearly three months, prompting Ellison's legal action to ensure the agent faces legal proceedings.
