Dozens dead in Bangladesh as passenger bus plunges into Padma River
At least 24 people died in Bangladesh on Wednesday when a passenger bus plunged into the Padma River in Rajbari district, about 100km from Dhaka. The bus, carrying 40 passengers, lost control while attempting to board a ferry at Daulatdia. Rescue workers recovered 22 bodies from the submerged bus, including five children, eleven women, and six men; two more women died after being rescued. The overturned bus sank approximately 9 meters into the river. Rescue efforts were conducted by fire service units, divers, the army, police, coastguard, and local authorities, with officials fearing more passengers may be missing.
