South Africa’s le Clos says home destroyed during Commonwealth record run
Olympic swimming champion Chad le Clos's apartment in Cape Town, South Africa, was destroyed in a fire on July 30th. The blaze occurred a day after le Clos became the most decorated athlete in Commonwealth Games history, winning his record 21st medal. Le Clos stated on Instagram that his home, where he had lived for over a decade, was gutted along with several other apartments in the block. He also expressed condolences for the death of an elderly neighbor in the fire. Le Clos announced that his foundation would work to help other affected residents rebuild their homes.
