Lionel Messi and Ian Fray are fined over separate incidents involving Inter Miami teammates

Inter Miami's Lionel Messi and Ian Fray have each been fined undisclosed amounts by MLS for separate incidents during a 2-2 draw against Philadelphia. Messi was fined for slapping Quinn Sullivan on the back of the neck during an exchange of words. Fray received a fine after grabbing Sullivan's neck when they became tangled in the penalty area. Both incidents occurred in second-half stoppage time. Additionally, Minnesota United FC defender Anthony Markanich was fined for embellishment in a separate match.

Major League Soccer (MLS) has fined Inter Miami's Lionel Messi an undisclosed amount for violating the league's policy on hands to the face, head, or neck of an opponent. This occurred during the 101st minute of Inter Miami's 2-2 draw against the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday. Inter Miami defender Ian Fray was also fined for the same violation. Separately, Philadelphia Union's Cavan Sullivan had his one-game suspension and fine rescinded after an appeal. Additionally, Toronto FC defender Walker Zimmerman and Minnesota United FC defender Anthony Markanich were fined for separate incidents.
