Tornadoes pummel New York’s Long Island and Delaware capital

Tornadoes struck Long Island, New York, and Dover, Delaware, on Thursday evening amidst severe storms that brought heavy rains to the northeastern US. In Atlantic Beach, New York, a tornado damaged at least 50 beach cabanas at the Sun & Surf Beach Club, causing minor injuries to one person. In Dover, Delaware, a tornado reportedly blew off the roof of a motel and damaged other buildings. First responders also rescued dozens of people stranded in their cars due to flash flooding in Long Island and Jersey City, New Jersey. Cleanup and repair efforts are underway in affected areas, with some roads experiencing delays due to debris and utility work.
