Ten police and 17 “bandits” killed in firefight in northwestern Nigeria
Ten police officers, 17 suspected gang members, and two civilians were killed in clashes in Kebbi State, northwestern Nigeria. The incident occurred on Monday when police confronted a large group of approximately 240 armed individuals on motorcycles traveling from Zamfara State. Police spokesman Bashir Usman stated that 10 officers lost their lives and two were injured. The violence is part of ongoing insecurity in northwestern Nigeria, which is plagued by armed criminal gangs involved in cattle rustling and kidnappings for ransom.
