US rejects Israeli suggestions of removing Palestinians from Gaza
The United States has publicly rejected Israeli suggestions for the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza. A US State Department spokesperson told Al Jazeera that Washington "does not support any plan or proposal for the forced displacement, expulsion, or mandatory transfer of the population of Gaza." This statement comes in response to comments by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who called for the de-population of Gaza as a solution to the crisis. The US reiterated its commitment to a past peace plan that explicitly states no one will be forced to leave Gaza. Arab states have also strongly opposed any efforts to remove Palestinians from their land.
