2 rescued off India’s eastern coast after distress alert from Panama-flagged ‌cargo ship

Two crew members were rescued off India's eastern coast after the Panama-flagged cargo ship MV Ocean Winner issued a distress alert and lost contact. The ship, carrying 24 crew members, sank in the Bay of Bengal on Saturday approximately 276 miles from the Paradip coast. The rescued individuals are receiving medical treatment while their identities are verified. A joint operation by the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy, with assistance from a nearby commercial vessel, is searching for the remaining 22 crew members. The MV Ocean Winner was transporting iron ore from Paradip Port to China, with its crew comprising 20 Chinese nationals, three from Myanmar, and one from Bangladesh.
