Chinese foreign minister calls for US and China to ‘overcome obstacles’ ahead of presidential summit
China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for the United States and China to overcome obstacles ahead of an anticipated summit between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping next month. Wang met with U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue and urged both sides to focus on positive aspects, manage differences, and remove interference to facilitate high-level exchanges. He acknowledged that China-U.S. relations continue to face risks and challenges. This comes after a previous meeting in May where Trump and Xi pledged to stabilize the relationship and maintain a trade truce. Despite this, both nations have since implemented targeted economic actions against each other.
