Italian rescuers recover 10 bodies after migrant boat capsizes off Malta
Italian rescuers have recovered 10 bodies after a migrant boat carrying approximately 60 people capsized off the coast of Malta. The vessel had departed from Libya and overturned about 45 nautical miles east-south-east of Malta. Around 48 people were rescued alive by a fishing boat in the area. The Italian coastguard dispatched a patrol boat to assist in the search and rescue operation, which is being coordinated by Maltese authorities. This incident highlights the ongoing dangers of the central Mediterranean crossing, a route where hundreds have died this year and last.
