Indonesia intensifies search for 129 people missing after ship capsizes
Indonesian authorities are intensifying the search for 129 people missing after the passenger ship Virgo Transport 8 capsized in the Java Sea on Sunday. The vessel was en route from Surabaya to Banjarmasin with 243 people on board when it lost contact during poor weather. Over 600 rescuers, including the coastguard, are battling stormy seas and high waves to find the missing individuals. So far, 108 people have been rescued, and at least six have died. The challenging weather conditions are significantly impeding rescue efforts, preventing the deployment of underwater rescue teams.
