Wisconsin congressman swims to safety after plane makes emergency landing in lake
Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany and his pilot were forced to swim to safety after their light aircraft made an emergency landing in Lake Wausau late Saturday. The plane lost power while approaching Wausau downtown airport, prompting the pilot to land in the lake. Both individuals exited the submerged aircraft and swam to a shallow area, where they were met by emergency responders. They were transported to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries. Tiffany was returning from the La Crosse county Lincoln Day Dinner at the time of the incident.
