Flavio Bolsonaro faces corruption probe weeks before Brazil election
Senator Flavio Bolsonaro is under investigation for alleged corruption, money laundering, and tax evasion in connection with disgraced banker Daniel Vorcaro and the Banco Master scandal. Brazil's Supreme Court unsealed documents revealing the probe, initiated in July by Justice Andre Mendonca at the request of federal police. Investigators are examining approximately $12 million transferred to a US-based fund linked to Flavio Bolsonaro's brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, allegedly for a film. Eduardo Bolsonaro denies wrongdoing, stating the funds were to shield them from interference. The investigation comes weeks before the presidential election, where Flavio Bolsonaro is a candidate. Both Bolsonaro and his opponent, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, have called for transparency in the unfolding scandal.
