Popular TV host, media star faces hanging after conviction in major synthetic drug trafficking case
A popular Egyptian TV host, Sarah Khalifa, has been sentenced to death by hanging in a major synthetic drug trafficking case. Khalifa is one of 12 defendants facing execution for their alleged roles in an organized criminal group that manufactured and trafficked synthetic drugs. The case involved 28 defendants in total, with others receiving life sentences or being acquitted. Authorities seized over 750 kilograms of synthetic narcotics and raw materials. The prosecution's case relied on witness statements and digital evidence. Khalifa, also a beauty clinic owner, was arrested in Cairo in April 2025.
