Completely nuts: Dutch gallery covers floor in peanut butter to honour late artist

The artwork will be on display until early September, with the museum cafe offering peanut butter sandwiches.

This tribute to the late conceptual artist, who died at 83, involves spreading over 800 pounds of peanut butter across a museum floor. Schippers first created this piece, known as "Pindakaasvloer," in 1969 as part of his Floor Covering Series. The exhibition will be open to the public for two months, beginning Friday. Workers meticulously spread the peanut butter to a thickness of 2 centimeters using drywall trowels. Schippers was known for his absurdist works and also voiced Ernie and Kermit the Frog in the Dutch "Sesame Street."
