US accuses Russia of trying to kill Ukrainian allies overseas
The US has accused five men of conspiring to intimidate, threaten, or murder individuals on US soil and globally. The FBI states that these men are linked to the RIS network and have been involved in attempts to carry out these actions. Specifically, two defendants, Yaidel Delgado Suarez and Angel Eduardo Castro, are accused of recruiting individuals in the US to surveil and attempt to murder a prominent Russian dissident residing in the United States. They allegedly offered money for this task, and when the initial recruit did not proceed, Suarez reportedly sought other individuals within the US. A third suspect, Oemis Romagoza Durruthy, is described as an influential Cuban national living in Russia who coordinated attacks for the RIS network.
