Russian military serviceman killed in St Petersburg car blast
A Russian military serviceman was killed and his wife injured in a car explosion in the Pushkinsky suburb of St. Petersburg on Thursday. The incident, which occurred around 10 am local time, completely destroyed the vehicle. Russian authorities have opened a criminal probe, initially classifying it as a vehicle fire. The man was identified by Russian media as a 53-year-old lieutenant colonel serving in Russia's Air Force and Air and Missile Defence units. This event is described as the latest in a series of blasts targeting military personnel and individuals linked to Russia's war in Ukraine, with Moscow having previously accused Kyiv of assassination attempts against Russian military officials.
