The inclusion of this race restores the F1 season to 23 events.

Formula One has announced that the Bahrain Grand Prix, originally scheduled for April, will be rescheduled and held in Malaysia on October 4th. The race will be officially designated the "Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia" and will take place at Malaysia's Sepang circuit. This decision was made due to the US-Israel war on Iran and its impact on the Middle East. The addition of Sepang brings the Formula One championship back to 23 races. The Sepang circuit last hosted Formula One in 2017.
