Beijing warns Manila of ‘powerful’ South China Sea toolbox ready for ‘head-on blow’

China's military mouthpiece, PLA Daily, issued a warning on Sunday regarding the South China Sea. The warning stated that China possesses a "rich and powerful" toolkit to address actions that "make waves" in the region. This statement followed the Philippines' efforts to map its claims to a disputed shoal. The previous day, the Chinese military conducted joint naval and air drills near Scarborough Shoal, a contested area known as Huangyan Island to China and Panatag Shoal to the Philippines. The article, published under the pen name Jun Sheng, conveyed a stern warning to forces attempting to cause trouble in the South China Sea, emphasizing China's options for safeguarding peace and stability.
