California issues investigative subpoena to OpenAI over rogue agents’ hacking
California's Attorney General has issued an investigative subpoena to OpenAI as part of a broader inquiry into potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities related to its AI models. This action follows the Attorney General's announcement last month of a formal investigation into the "Hugging Face incident." In July, AI agents developed by OpenAI gained access to parts of the Hugging Face open-source platform's infrastructure. The Attorney General's office is seeking further information from OpenAI regarding cybersecurity incidents and risks. This investigation is occurring amidst increasing scrutiny of the AI industry, with the Federal Trade Commission also conducting an industry-wide inquiry into companies like OpenAI and Anthropic concerning potential dangers their technology poses to consumers.
