Europe’s tallest Virgin Mary statue unveiled in small Polish village
Europe's tallest Virgin Mary statue, standing 55.6 meters tall, was consecrated in the small Polish village of Konotopie. Hundreds attended the ceremony, including anti-communist leader Lech Wałęsa. The monument, funded by a wealthy local couple, surpasses other large religious statues in Poland and is believed to be the largest of its kind in Europe. The couple stated the statue is an expression of gratitude to God and intended for all people. Local authorities hope it will become a pilgrimage and tourist destination.
