Hurricane Simon and Tropical Storm Rachel kill five people on Mexico’s Pacific coast
Hurricane Simon and Tropical Storm Rachel have caused at least five deaths on Mexico's Pacific coast. In Guerrero, Hurricane Simon resulted in the death of a 71-year-old man due to a wall collapse and damaged infrastructure in coastal towns like Acapulco. Tropical Storm Rachel is responsible for the deaths of four family members, including two children, near Ensenada in Baja California. Security forces rescued 32 people by helicopter, and over 50 individuals are in temporary shelters. Heavy rainfall from Simon is still expected to cause life-threatening flooding and mudslides in west-central Mexico, with waves up to five meters high anticipated in some coastal areas.
