Palestine weekly: Israeli settlers attack journalist and diplomats
Israeli settlers have intensified attacks on Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season, exceeding last year's total with over 200 recorded incidents since September 1. These attacks have resulted in one Palestinian death, over 120 injuries, and damage to thousands of trees. The violence has also targeted international observers, with a journalist sustaining broken ribs and needing surgery after being attacked by settlers in Abu Falah. Additionally, a delegation including diplomats from Belgium, France, and Poland was attacked in Taybeh, with a Belgian consulate vehicle window smashed and a French mayor injured. Some religious figures have supported these actions, framing them as a demonstration of land ownership. In response, Israeli authorities launched "Operation Olive Leaf," arresting 10 Israelis in connection with the attacks on foreign journalists and diplomats, though broader action against settler violence against Palestinians remains limited.
