Sally Rooney books withdrawn from sale in UK over Palestine Action support
Irish novelist Sally Rooney's books have been withdrawn from sale in the United Kingdom by her publisher, Faber. This decision stems from Rooney's public support for Palestine Action, a group designated as a terrorist organization by the UK government. Faber stated that the withdrawal is due to circumstances preventing them from passing UK earnings to Rooney for her work, calling it an "unconscionable situation." Rooney acknowledged that further publication of her work in the UK could constitute a criminal offense and stated she is prepared for the consequences of her beliefs. The UK government outlawed Palestine Action in July 2025, and membership or support of the group is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
