Pope does not need further treatment after lung cancer surgery
Pope Leo XIV has been cleared of needing further treatment after surgery to remove a cancerous growth from his lung. Doctors confirmed the diagnosis of a localized lung adenocarcinoma following the operation on October 13th, which involved the removal of the lower lobe of his right lung. A subsequent oncological assessment determined that no additional treatment is necessary. The 71-year-old pontiff was discharged from Gemelli Hospital four days after the surgery and has since resumed his public duties, including his weekly general audience at St. Peter's Square. The Pope had previously announced the discovery of an early-stage nodule on his lung.
