Long March 5

The Long March 5 is a family of Chinese heavy-lift launch vehicles developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). These rockets are essential for China's ambitious space exploration goals, including lunar missions, space station construction, and deep space probes. Recently, the Chang'e-7 mission, which aims to explore for ice near the lunar south pole using an orbiter, lander, rover, and hopper, experienced a delay. This mission was slated to launch aboard a Long March 5 rocket from the Wenchang spaceport. The Long March program has also faced setbacks; for instance, a Long March-7A rocket disintegrated shortly after launch in August, with engine issues suspected as the cause, though official confirmation from CASC was pending. Despite these challenges, the Long March 5 remains a cornerstone of China's space program, enabling the deployment of heavy payloads and supporting the nation's growing presence in space.
